Ice & Electronics Power

Runtime for your ice fishing electronics at real-world temps, including 14.8V NMC battery support and dual-unit setups. Plus an electric auger hole counter.

12V · 14.8V · 16V

Cold doesn't just make you miserable on the ice — it measurably shrinks how much energy your battery can deliver. 14.8V NMC lithium batteries (Norsk, Amped Outdoors, Scheels-brand units) have become the go-to for LiveScope and Mega Live because they run the electronics closer to their rated voltage ceiling and deliver roughly 15–20% more runtime than a same-Ah 12V LiFePO4. The tradeoff: they need a dedicated 16.8V charger and should never be charged below freezing just like any lithium chemistry.

14.8V NMC batteries run electronics near their rated voltage ceiling, delivering roughly 15–20% more runtime than a same-Ah 12V pack. They need a dedicated 16.8V charger — do not charge with a standard 12V or LiFePO4 charger.

Electric Auger Hole Count

How many holes can you drill before the battery gives out — anchored to manufacturer published specs where available.

Your Auger

ION published spec: 2000 in/charge (8" bit). Holes = published spec ÷ ice thickness. Dull blades, hard ice, or cold batteries will reduce actual count — treat this as ideal conditions.
